Economic & Commercial Development Strategy
Project Description
Elevating connectivity and passenger experience at Quito Airport with strategic land-use and economic development planning.
MXD assisted Corporación Quiport, Houston Airport Systems (HAS) Development Corporation, and CCR with the strategic assessment of economic development opportunities to leverage and diversify Mariscal Sucre Quito International Airport’s connectivity by air and land, and to establish the basis for an Airport Land Use and Development Framework. Key components of this strategy included feeding off of the airport’s Cross-Dock Temperature Controlled Warehouse Pelleting Complex, which handles much of the world’s supply of fresh cut long stem roses, as well as the associated Customs Handling Clearance Facility. Recognizing the airport’s remote location, the Real Estate Strategy also explored enhancing the airport’s central area with retail, food & beverage, and hotels/ accommodation, as well as incorporating functions and brand themes that provided an elevated passenger experience for their gateway arrival to and departure from Ecuador.
