Project Description
Revelstoke Section 17 Lands Development Potential and Implementation Strategy
MXD Development Strategists Ltd. was retained by the City of Revelstoke to assess the development potential of the Section 17 lands along Westside Road near the Revelstoke Dam. Working with Lawson Engineering, Columbia Headwaters Consulting, and Eric Aderneck, MXD integrated market and economic analysis, land use planning, infrastructure feasibility, environmental review, and stakeholder engagement.
The study evaluated development opportunities across industrial, commercial, employment, institutional, recreational, and other complementary uses, considering market demand, servicing capacity, environmental constraints, development economics, employment potential, and the site’s proximity to BC Hydro infrastructure.
MXD developed and tested up to three development scenarios and identified a preferred approach supported by an implementation roadmap. The study provides the City with an evidence-based framework to advance discussions with the Province, BC Hydro, Indigenous partners, and potential investors, while supporting long-term economic diversification, investment attraction, and sustainable development.
