Transforming Chattanooga’s Airport Corridor into a thriving hub of opportunity with strategic redevelopment and community-driven growth.
MXD, in partnership with Stantec recently completed a Redevelopment Plan for several hundred acres of land adjacent to Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport. Our team provided recommendations on much needed transportation, urban design, land use and infrastructure improvements that will act as catalysts to unlock strategic redevelopment opportunities along the Airport Corridor. A significant stakeholder and community engagement process was undertaken to learn about the opportunities and challenges along the corridor. This included meeting with local businesses to determine the requirements needed for diversifying the mix of land uses as well as expanding job growth in the area. The team has also identified three priority sites for redevelopment that will act as catalysts for economic growth and begin to change the perception of what the Airport Corridor could achieve from a development point-of-view. The consulting team has provided various strategies and tools to generate an implementation plan that is unique to the Airport Corridor’s context while being rooted in economic and market feasibility.
