Shaping Yellowknife’s Airport into a hub for economic growth, innovation, and regional development in the Northwest Territories.
MXD was retained by the Government of the Northwest Territories to create a strategic vision for the future development of the Airport. In collaboration with Stantec’s Master Plan process, MXD performed a Market & Economic Analysis to help inform a feasible Development Program for the Airport’s Commercial Lands, including the undeveloped parcels which will surround the future new Air Terminal Building. MXD’s process identified the economic positioning, targeting, and clustering of commercial activity to strengthen existing industries and enable growth in Yellowknife’s and the Northwest Territories’ economy. The process also explored catalyst projects, and the enabling road and infrastructure actions required to initiate, grow, and sustain commercial, retail, and tourism activities at the Airport and Yellowknife.
